Tithe, Valiant, Ironside

Posted by aine | Friday.10.04.09 | Book Covers

I absolutely love these books. I like the covers a lot. The hardback of Tithe was the first released, and I loved the cover because it shows that not all faeries are pretty and nice. When it was rereleased in paperback, they gave it a new cover. The two following books (Valiant and Ironside) were published with covers that matched the Tithe paperback.

This is the original cover for Tithe.

What do you guys think of these covers? Do you have a favorite? Do you wish they had stuck with the original cover design for books 2 and 3?

  1. I think they did stick with the same theme, don’t you? And I don’t particularly like the covers but they do fit the stories they’re representing (and that doesn’t necessarily mean that I didn’t like the stories, because I did). I’m very fussy when it comes to covers and these fell a little short for me. However, I do think that perhaps with covers like these, more boys might be attracted to them, which I think is good considering they’re not particularly feminine stories.

  2. I really like them. I think they fit the theme perfectly. I also like the simplicity and the darkness. The font is really nice too.

  3. Nikki, when I said the same theme, I mean the original cover design (the first pic posted). When they did the cover for the paperback of Tithe, they changed the design, and then stuck with that for books 2 and 3. I like the design of the first cover more and wished they had stuck with that theme.

  4. I love the dark gritty yet beauty found in all of the covers. They all show that’s its not going to be some light hearted bouncy faery tale. The hardback cover I like because if gives visual of the faeries you come across in the book but the paperback covers are nice because they are more simple (less crowded) it would have been nice to see what faeries would have been shown on the 2nd and 3rd covers though.

  5. Ironside is probably my favorite cover.
I saw the hardcover of Tithe at my school library. It’s very pretty.

  6. i think ironside is my fave of the three that are similar. i love the crown in the middle.

  7. Yeah, i wouldn’t really like to admit it but i kinda judge books by their covers… (Yh i know im stupid) and i don’t really like the original cover, i think its a bit too full and i prefer not seeing the characters of books illustrated so that i can create my own image of them in my head.

I really like these new covers however because they look so dark and magical. I especially like Tithe’s cover.
