Tithe, Valiant, Ironside

Posted by aine | Friday.10.04.09 | Book Covers

I absolutely love these books. I like the covers a lot. The hardback of Tithe was the first released, and I loved the cover because it shows that not all faeries are pretty and nice. When it was rereleased in paperback, they gave it a new cover. The two following books (Valiant and Ironside) were published with covers that matched the Tithe paperback.

This is the original cover for Tithe.

What do you guys think of these covers? Do you have a favorite? Do you wish they had stuck with the original cover design for books 2 and 3?

Wicked Lovely

Posted by aine | Saturday.28.03.09 | Book Covers

This series is one of my favorites. I read Wicked Lovely last fall and wondered what I was thinking letting it sit on my shelf for so long. One of the things that made me pick up this book was the cover. I love reading, and one of my favorite things to read about is faeries.

This is the cover you guys are probably most familiar with. It’s the US edition.

And this is probably the second most familiar. It’s the UK edition.

Here is the German cover.

And this last one is the Spanish cover.

The US version has a bluish/purplish tint, and I think it’s interesting that the German and Spanish covers kept with the color scheme. I’m not sure which one is my favorite. I think the UK cover stands out the most and has a more magical look to it. But I’m really torn between the US and German covers.

What do you think? Do you have a favorite cover?

2nd: What’s on the Web?

For the “What’s on the Web?” feature, we will be posting links to other interesting sites or posts that is relevant to jacket designs.

Today’s link is an article from Soro Design.   A designer talks about his design process for a book.  From reading the manuscript and finding a voice to book cover drafts.  This isn’t just about the book cover, the designer also discussed the book layout and website design.

My new favorite cover. It is so different from what I usually like, but it makes me smile.

Pretty Packaging

Posted by Ivy | Saturday.21.03.09 | Book Covers

I recently stumbled upon a book called Paisley Hanover Acts Out by Cameron Tuttle.  Although the story doesn’t appeal to me, the packaging is certainly very pretty.  It’s a YA chick lit so the pinks and oranges on the cover fits appropriately.  Check it out…

I’m not really a fan of floral prints, but that design looks pretty.  It reminded me of this book I came across last year called Ghostgirl by Tonya Hurley.  It also has a very cool cover.

Same with the previous book, the story might not appeal to you but the cover will definitely catch anyone’s eye.

What about you?  What do you think about these packaging?  Have you seen any exceptional packaging lately?
